Creating New Traditions
“Creating New Traditions” the six selected pieces from the writing competition ‘A Family Reality’ have been chosen by the jury*. In random order the selections are:

• Sukkot – J. Boyer, Tempe AZ

• Perfect Baby – Jason Summers. Montreal Qc.
To find out the order of placement they will be presented at a stage reading on Friday June 3 and Saturday June 4 at 8pm, at Playwrights Workshop Montreal, 4324 St-Laurent. All proceeds will go to The Montreal GLBT Int’l. Theatre Festival – HARVEST (September 15 – 25, 2005).
• The top six selections will be awarded cash prizes of: #1 = $100.00, #2 = $75.00, #3 = $50.00, and #4 to #6 = $25.00
• The first prize piece will be published in TOBE monthly magazine in an upcoming issue.
• CKUT Radio McGill 90.3FM will air a reading of extracts from some of the top six selections on Queer Corps, Monday May 30 at 18h.
The jury selection committee consisted of: Amy Barrett, theatre critic; Marta Cooper, award winning writer; Davyn Ryall, artistic director; Nancy Murray, activist; Noah Boudreau; and Elaine Fiddes, event coordinator.
The writing competition was coordinated in collaboration with La Fondation Emergence entitled as part of the campaign for ‘The NATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA’ (la Journée nationale de lutte contre l'homophobie). The theme of this third edition on June 1, 2005 is ‘A Family Reality’ (La famille grandit).
