La 2ème édition du festival, La Récolte – Festival de Théâtre International GLBT de Montréal produit par Productions Village Scène, a considérablement pris racine dans la communauté et dans le milieu théâtral cette année.
En effet, de 10 productions l’année dernière, le festival passe à 15 cette année les productions sont internationales, nationales et locales: 3 de Toronto, 3 des États-Unis, et 8 productions locales dont 5 en anglais et 3 en français.
Avec une programmation prête à être cueillie et en attendant d’aller déguster nos spectacles, commencez par notre entrée style cabaret «SCRIPTEASE», le jeudi 1er septembre à 20h au bar Le Tube, mettant en vedette une mosaique d’artistes qui présenteront des extraits de leurs spectacles et a pour but d’attirer votre attention et de titiller votre imagination fertile quant à ce que nous avons cultivé avec beaucoup d’amour et de patience! Entrée gratuite, les portes ouvrent à 19h.Cette soirée est la soirée promotionnelle du festival.
Comme une récolte s’étend avec le temps, celle-ci ne fait pas exception à la règle. Déjà notre semence se propage dans plusieurs salles de l’est à l’ouest: Cabaret Mado, Thèâtre Ste-Catherine, et la Musée juste pour rire. C’est grâce à eux et d’autres généreux commanditaires comme Fugues et d’autres medias qui nous aide avec la distribution de notre programmation, et l’Hotel Taj Mahal qui héberge nos artistes venus d‚ailleurs, que vous pourrez donner libre cours à votre appétit pour le théâtre.
Et en parlant d’appétit, voici quelques uns de nos produits du terroir bien de chez nous, histoire de vous mettre l’eau à la bouche :
Cette année on rend hommage à l'écrivain Québecois Michel Tremblay avec deux courtes pièces: La Duchesse de Langeais avec Daniel Rousse et Surprise Surprise dans laquelle MADO fera son rétour au festival cette année. Musée J.P.R. du 15 au 25 septembre.
Les Nouvelles Amazones : Une farce poético-trash, diablement contemporaine entre néo-metal et heroic fantasy. Musée J.P.R. du 15 au 25 septembre.
The Fairies Are Thirsty: Adaptation de Les Fées ont soif qui a donné du fil retordre aux censeurs dans les années 70. Ce spectacle défie le rôle traditionnel des femmes et des images stéréotypées de celles-ci imposées par la société; qui sont plus actuelles que jamais avec le travail des femmes qui est encore sous-estimé aujourd'hui... Les fées ont encore soif! Thèâtre Ste-Catherine, 21 au 24 septembre.
Seedlings : mise en scène de Davyn Ryall, est une série de six courtes pièces (donc 4 soumises au concours « Créer de Nouvelles Traditions – ‘Creating New Traditions’ ») en un acte qui seront présentées au Musée J.P.R. Le texte gagnant du concours - Child Support – fera partie de cette compilation.
Sexe and la Cité : cette sélection officielle du Festival Fringe Montréal de cette année a joué à guichets fermés tout au long du Festival en juin et au Comedy Nest en juillet. Ce spectacle est une parodie de la série télévisée et promet d’être le coup de coeur du public. Au MJPR jeudi. 15 septembre 19h et au Cabaret Mado, samedi et dimanche le 17 et 18 septembre à 20h30.
Sur le plan international nous retrouvons:
Joe In Winter: De la danse moderne et du multimedia. Une chorégraphie en solo, Joe retourne d'un voyage physique intoxiquant qui explore comment le coeur et l'esprit survivent aux hivers les plus froids, désolés et isolés que la nature à offrir. Voyez comment Joe se remet d'un coeur brisé et découvre ce que c'est qu'être un homme ordinaire. Un coproduction de P.V.S. et Image & Nation. Musée juste pour rire, de 22 au 25 septembre.
Unaccessorized: Avec Rich Kiamco de N.Y.C. ayant fait une apparition à l’émission « Queer Eye For The Straight Guy » avec une comédie « one man show ». Musée juste pour rire, de 21 au 24 septembre.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch : Spectacle musical rock de Burlington Vermont. Ce spectacle a déjà eu un grand succès auprès des medias lors de sa tournée qui s’arrête pour deux réprésentations au Musée J.P.R. le 16 au 18 septembre. Et en plus un événement spécial soirée ‘GLAM_ROCK - The Best Of Hedwig’ le 17 avec DJ et invites. Cette soirée avec un air fetish promet d’être èpoustouflante!

The 2nd edition of the festival, Harvest - The Montreal G.L.B.T. International Theatre Festival produced by Village Scene Productions has taken considerable root in the community this year.
From 10 productions last year, the festival has now grown to 15. There are international, national and local productions: 3 from Toronto, 3 from the United States, and 8 local including 5 in English and 3 in French.
With a program ripe and ready for the picking how about an event to tease your appetite with a cabaret style evening ‘SCRIPTEASE’, Thursday, September 1st at 20h at bar Le Tube – Complex Bourbon. Featuring a mosaic of artists who will present extracts of their productions in the festival to titillate your fertile imaginations and see what we have cultivated with much love and patience! The doors open at 7pm. Admission is free, donations are appreciated. This evening is the promotional evening of the festival.
As a harvest spreads, this one is no exception to the rule. Already our seeding has propagated in several spaces from the east to the west of the city: Cabaret Mado, Thèâtre Ste-Catherine, and the Just For Laughs Museum – Studio. It is thanks to these venues and our other generous partners like the media that help distribute our programming, and the Hotel Taj Mahal which is hosting our out of town artists that you will be able to wet your appetite for theatre of a 100% GLBT flavor.

Les Nouvelles Amazones : A contemporary poético-trash piece somewhere between néo-metal and heroic fantasy. At Just For Laughs Museum-Studio.
The Fairies Are Thirsty : Adaptation of the ‘Les fées ont soif’, which challenged the critics in the seventies. This play defies the traditional role of women and the stereotyped images of those imposed by society; themes that are more current now than ever when work that is performed by women is still underestimated today ... The fairies are still thirsty! Thèâtre Ste-Catherine September 21 to 24.
Seedlings: A compilation selected by festival artistic director Davyn Ryall, is a series of six short plays (4 from the competition ‘Creating New Traditions’) that will be presented at the J.F.L. Museum-Studio. The winning text of the competition - Child Support will form part of this compilation.
Sex and the City : This is the official selection from the Montreal Fringe this year playing to closed houses throughout the festival in June and at the Comedy Nest in July. This show is a parody of the televised series and promises to be a crowd favorite. At: JFLM opening night Thursday, September 15 19h; Cabaret Mado, Saturday, September 17, 20h00 and Sunday, September 18, at 20h30.

Joe In Winter : From Las Vegas, modern dance and multi-media are combined in this solo choreography where Joe presents a physical voyage which explores how the heart and the spirit survive the most cold, afflicted and isolated winters that nature could offer. See how Joe recovers from a broken heart and discovers what it is to be an ordinary man. A co-production of V.S.P. and Image & Nation. September 22 - 25. Just For Laughs Museum Studio.
Unaccessorized : With Rich Kiamco of N.Y.C. having made an appearance on the TV show ‘Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’ is a comedy one man show. Just For Laughs Museum Studio.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch : A Rock-Musical spectacle from Burlington, Vermont. This show has already received great critical success from the media while on tour and it stops by for two performances at the J.F.L. Museum – Studio, September 16 to 18. Plus an additional late night special show on the Saturday the 17th, a GLAM ROCK Event featuring The Best Of Hedwig with invited DJ and other guests. This evening with a fetish feel, promises to be a mind-blowing event!
