AUDITIONS

 

Casting singer/dancer actors (True triple threats: act, sing, dance.) for this new English adult camp musical comedy. For the extended Canadian cast production tour of this Play http://www.myspace.com/bathhousethemusical that premiered in August in Montreal (9) nine performances and (1) one in Ottawa. The original production premiereed in last year in Orlando Florida and is currently touring south of the border.

Bathhouse: The Musical!
This rib-tickling, ass-slapping, toe-tapping all male revue promises to be a rousing, carousing, musical montage featuring all of your favorite bathhouse icons. Join Billy as he visits the bathhouse for the first time. He's looking for love but soon realizes that the other patrons are looking for something else, something a little more temporary! The Play is a camp musical comedy for mature audiences, with adult themes, and plenty of scantily clad men! See you at the Baths!

Maurice.   Portray age range: 23 +/- 30. (Pop-Baritone to a High A-flat.) Should have a killer Maurice Chevalier impression, (Think 'Lumiere' in Disney's Beauty and the Beast). Medium size proportional physical frame, aprox: 5'9" - 6'2".

Billy. Portray age range: 18 +/- 25. (A tenor, with a clear High B-Flat.) Aprox: 5'6" - 5'10". Slim to slight or a little bit chubby physical shape. Smooth chest.

Teddy. Portray age range: 18 +/- 25. (Tenor to a B-flat Falsetto C.) Physically he is the boyish 'Twinky' type. Lean naturally slim swimmer's build with little to no chest hair.   Aprox: 5'7" - 5'11".

David. Portray age range: 20 +/- 28.   (Bari-tenor.   Pop Baritone with high G's.)    Should be able to riff and have a strong pop falsetto. Physically he is 'Hot', physically muscular and ripped. Aprox: 5'8 - 6'. Named after the Michelangelos' 'David'.

Auditions to be held in Montreal; Round one: Interview. Round two: Prepare one musical theatre song (aprox: 30 bars of memorized verse and chorus) and supply CD or piano arrangement in your key for the audition. Round three: Choreography: wear clothing suitable for movement; Call-backs & final selection & casting of roles in the ensemble: TBA Rehearsals: September - October. Canadian tour dates in October - November T.B.A. Classified as a high risk roles, with suggestive lyrics and adult themes; Some partial very limited nudity only, a back view reveal and torso required. Remuneration - V.S.P. agreement: minimum per performance base salary (rehearsals included), against a guaranteed (5%) five percent of gross box office receipts.

CASTING: The role of Nick in the stage play 'DAVID en francais'. Artistic director Davyn Ryall is seeking an actor for the production of 'DAVID en francais'. A solo mulit-media (video co-directed by Atif Saddiqi & original music) performance. Original English text by Joseph Bembridge & Bryn Symonds. Winner of the top 5 plays in Montreal Mirror poll 2007. Recipient of 5 nominations Harvest 2006 and winner of 2 Cornucopias for most notable  direction and promotional campaign. Male age range mid to late twenties. 5'7"- 6'1" Very attractive and in excellent physical shape. Proficient in French. Strong improvisational talent. Very limited partial nudity required (side, back and torso). High risk role.

Nick doesn't know it yet, but Friday night he's working his way through all these positions: His past and future are coming together in the present. A one-man show exploring characterization and themes creating a slightly jaded and sympathetic brat called Nick, who is in the process of understanding himself and a well developed theme and character, setting and style, crafting together a powerful voice and dramatic message. Originally inspired by the work of Marie Brassard and other contemporary theatre artists, the production does away with traditional set and props, preferring to use projected video art and original music to give context and texture to the story being told on stage. his environment. He tells the story of a back alley sexual encounter with a young man called David.

Production: Six (6) performances October 7 to 12, 2008; Plus extension of four (4) to 18th. UDA/ACT profit share +25% of gross box office.

Auditions on going: 1) Prepare a +1 / -2 minute contemporary French monologue; Incorporate physical movement and action into the audition piece. 2) Present a separate movement piece (shirtless) to contemporary: dance, pop, rock, music of -1 minute. 3) Then followed by a cold read from the Play.

CASTING - Guillaume et James: une histoire d'amour désuni Guillaume is a male age range 18 to +/- 25. 5'6 to 6'. Slim (wirey slim stature) but good physical porportional shape. Fluent in French. Production in 2008-09 season. Capable of absorbing and delivering lengthy text. Period play set in 1856 London - aristocratic accent and social aires. Very detailed blocking. Some very limited, non-sexual context, full nudity.

Auditions ongoing: 1st round: 'A Cold Read' directly from French text with partner actor in role of James. 2nd round: Prepared solo monologue from original French text, distributed in advance to actors receiving a call back. Final selection made subquently.
