Montreal, February 12, 2008: Village Scene Productions announces 'The Harvest' October 1 to 18, 2008 inviting companies and performers to enter their submissions for consideration by the selection committee for the 5th edition of the Montreal LGBT International Theatre Festival - HARVEST V.
We are proud to announce that this season of The Harvest is an associated event of the BBCM Black & Blue (October 7 to 14). This association will allow us to reach a larger public and enlarge our audience.
This year a limited number of productions will be accepted to participate in each of three categories. Professional productions and semi-professional, international, and national (deadline March 15); Professional, semi-professional, amateur, and novice local (deadline March 25). Late registrations (late fee of 25$ applies) accepted until March 30,.
If you are interested to participate in the selection process for 2008 and have a project that you wish to mount in the festival this year then we invite you to make your submission. Please advise us by the deadline for your category. The final selection line up of all productions accepted into Harvest V will be announced by April 15.
To enter a project for consideration for selection, please forward the following:
* A letter expressing your interest to participate; outline the production history and attach a bio/cv.
* A brief description of the production including details on: The story line, relevance to the L.G.B.T. community and theme of the play (max 250 words). The number of characters/actors on stage and total number of members in your production including crew. Any particular technical requirements or equipment that are necessary for its success.
* Copy of the script or recent draft if a work in progress. VHS/DVD if available.
We accept full productions of 60 to 120 minutes (approximately 30 to 60 pages of standard text) into the festival. The content of the production must contain LGBT themes relevant to the community in topic and entertainment value. We assign 1 to 4 performances per production, scheduled at our discretion. For out of town productions, performances are scheduled in sequence to accommodate a limited stay. For local productions, performance schedules are scattered randomly throughout the entire event. Once the schedule is finalized there can be no changes or adjustments made to it.
