Montreal, April 6, 2004: The G.L.B.T. Int’l. Theatre Festival of Montréal held its’ official launched on Saturday,
April 3 at le Mystique bar at a fund-raising event called ‘Queer Quickies’ – A quirky evening of words and
music. Davyn Ryall, Artistic Director of Village Scene Productions (V.S.P.) and festival coordinator,
announced that for it’s first year the festival will be held from November 5 to 14. The ten-day event will feature
local companies as well as one invited from out of province.

The space selected to hold this years’ festival is Station–C located on Ste-Catherine St. East in the heart of

Montreals’ gay village. This building has a lot history, once a post office; it was also the Fèlix-Leclerc Theatre
and also housed the popular 90’s bars KOX and Katacombes. It is now a multiplex cultural center dedicated
to the development and promotion of visual and performing emerging artists.
 

The submission deadline for plays has been extended for this years’ festival until May14th 18h from April

30th. A jury of peers will evaluate the entries and selected participants will be announced by June 6th.
 
The results of a naming contest for the festival were to have been revealed however despite many entries the
evaluating jury of communications experts were not satisfied with any of the submissions so organizers
decided to forgo the naming of the festival until a later date yet to be announced.
