This project gathers together a team of gifted women and of professionals of all ages and displines. Some recently received a diploma, some continue to study, and others are revitalizing their careers, all profiting from the experiment of collaboration, under the surveillance of the artistic director, and of the director. Carolyn Gage (auteure) est une auteure lesbienne féministe, actrice, metteur en scène, et activiste. Carolyn Gage (playwright) is a lesbian-feminist playwright, performer, director, and activist. The author of seven books on lesbian theatre and fifty-five plays, musicals, and one-woman shows, she specializes in non-traditional roles for women, especially those reclaiming famous lesbians whose stories have been distorted or erased from history. Her collection of plays The Second Coming of Joan of Arc and Selected Plays was year's winner of the Lambda Literary Award in Drama, the top LGBT book award in the USA. Stéphanie Sullivan (traductrice), née avec la double citoyenneté française/américaine, a grandi à Houston au Texas où on lui a enseigné en français jusqu'à ce qu'elle aille à la Trinity University à San Antonio, où elle a reçu son B.A. 'Drama and Communication'. Sa passion pour le théâtre l'a alors menée en Illinois où elle a reçu un M.A. en Théâtre de de l'Illinois State University et un M.F.A. en 'Acting' de DePaul University. Stephanie est la coordonnatrice 'casting' pour The Bohemian Theatre Ensemble à Chicago, fait du doublage et joue sur scène.
C'est avec grand honneur et enthousiasme que Stephanie a travaillé sur la traduction de The Second Coming of Joan of Arc, une pièce qui à la fois l'a émue et lui a parlé à un niveau très personnel. Stéphanie Sullivan (translator), born with dual French/American citizenship, grew up in Houston TX where she was taught in French until going to college in San Antonio. There, she received her B.A. in Drama and Communication from Trinity University. Her passion for theatre then led her to Illinois where she received an M.A. in Theatre from Illinois State University and an M.F.A. in Acting from DePaul University. Stephanie is the casting coordinator for The Bohemian Theatre Ensemble in Chicago and enjoys doing voice-over work and acting on stage.
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that Stephanie worked on the translation of The Second Coming of Joan of Arc, a play that both moved her and spoke to her on a very personal level. She thanks Carolyn for trusting her with this endeavor and giving her the opportunity to reach new artistic heights. She is thankful for having grown up in a bilingual household, where her family's cultural roots were honored. She hopes that the translation will speak to and move audiences as much as it has moved her!
Liz Valdez (mise en scène), couramment enseignante à temps partiel au Département de Théâtre de l'Université Concordia, enseigne depuis 15 ans et a mis en scène plus de 40 productions incluant de nouvelles oeuvres de poètes et auteurs montréalais et ses propres créations collectives. Elle a préparé des adolescents au tournage de divers films et émissions de télévision. Ses mises en scène les plus récentes incluent "Haunted House" au Segal Center, sur la vie du poète, politicien et avocat montréalais A.M. Klein, par Endre Farkas, et "The Nutmeg Princess" de Richardo Keens-Douglas pour la tournée scolaire du BlackTheatre Workshop pour le Mois de l'Histoire des Noirs de cette année. Liz Valdez (director) currently part-time faculty at Concordia University Theatre Department has been teaching and coaching for fifteen years and has directed over 40 productions including new works by Montreal playwrights, poets, and her own collective creations. She has coached teens on set for various movies and TV shows. Her most recent directing credits include "Haunted House" at Segal Center, about the life of Montreal poet, politician and lawyer, A.M. Klein written by Endre Farkas, and "The Nutmeg Princess" by Richardo Keens-Douglas for Black Theatre Workshop's current School Tour for Black History month. In 2009 she received glowing reviews for her direction of "Problem Child" and her performance in "Adult Entertainment" by Canadian Playwright George F. Walker for Tableau D'Hote Theatre. Liz has taught many students who have gone on to enjoy successful careers in Film, Television and Theatre and post-graduate studies around the world. Liz Valdez graduated with a BFA from Concordia's Theatre department. She has collaborated with Village Scene Productions numerous times since 2000 including: Animator-instructor 2000-02, Stage manager-coach 2002, Director 2002, Acting-coach 2009 and Director 2010. Liz's next major project will be directing "Humans" by Daniel Maclvor at the Segal Center for the Arts in 2011.
Caitie Parsons (l'actrice), née et élevée à Montréal, est diplômée du programme "Theatre & Development" de l'Université Concordia. Elle est passionnée de théâtre depuis plus de 15 ans. Après une petite pause, elle est emballée de revenir sur scène. Parmi ses récents projets, la comédienne a joué Sandy dans la pièce "The End of Civilization" dirigée par Olivier Perras, et interprété Lady Macbeth dans la pièce "A Vigil for Macbeth" adaptée et dirigée par Joseph Mercier. Pour ce premier monologue, Caitie est reconnaissante d'être guidée par la talentueuse Liz Valdez.
Caitie Parsons (actress), born and raised in Montreal, is a graduate of Concordia University's Theatre & Development Program. She has been involved in and passionate about theatre for over fifteen years. After a bit of a break from acting, she is happy to be back in action. Noémi Poulin (conception décor et éclairage). Depuis près de cinq ans déjà, Noémi Poulin participe à la scène montréalaise en créant des costumes pour le théâtre, le cinéma et la danse. En plus d'être artiste en résidence pour la compagnie Tableau D'Hôte, elle s'est impliquée auprès de diverses compagnies théâtrales comme l'Espace Go, Théâtre Le Clou, L'Aquarium et le Globe et Imago Theatre. Son parcours inclut entre autres la conception des costumes pour The Pillowman (Fallen Angel Productions), Lion in the Streets, Haunted House et Suburban Motel (Tableau D'Hôte Theâtre). Elle fit ses débuts en cinéma l'été dernier comme conceptrice de costume et chef habilleuse pour le long-métrage Categorical Imperative, réalisé par Guy Sprung, puis travailla comme styliste sur les deux derniers vidéos de Yann Perreau, Le Président Danse Autrement et L'Amour Se Meurt. Noémi Poulin (set & light designer). is actively working in Montreal's theatre scene, creating costumes for various plays and venues. She has worked with many French and English theatre companies, including l'Espace Go, Théâtre Le Clou, L'Aquarium et le Globe and Imago Theatre; all the while being Tableau D'Hôte Theatre's artist-in-residence. Her credits include costume design for, The Pillowman (Fallen Angel Productions), Lion in the Streets, Haunted House and Suburban Motel (Tableau D'Hôte Theatre). Last summer she made her cinema debut as head of wardrobe on Categorical Imperative, a feature film directed by Guy Sprung. She has worked as a stylist for Yann Perreault's latest two music videos, Le Président danse autrement and L'Amour se meurt. Most recently she designed set, costumes and puppets for the Black Theatre Workshop production of The Nutmeg Princess and costumes and lights for A Line in the Sand, produced by Tableau D'Hôte at the Segal Centre.
Mélanie-Ann Fallnbigl (design maquillage et costumes). Étudiante en arts visuels à l'UQÀM, son parcours artistique touche à la musique, la peinture, le théâtre, la photographie ainsi que le design de mode et ce depuis l'enfance. Elle aime particulièrement la diversité des pratiques comme moyen d'enrichir son implication dans les différents projets dans lesquels elle s'investit. Elle travaille en tant qu'artiste en maquillage artistique et à effets spéciaux depuis l'an 2000 pour différents événements, notamment pour La Ronde, La Fête des neiges de Montréal, et récemment avec le Quartier Dix30. Mélanie-Ann Fallnbigl (costumes & makeup design). This student of the Visual Arts department of UQÀM has cumulated experience in music, painting, theatre, photography and fashion design in her artistic ventures since childhood. Her philosophy is to diversify her practices to enrich her imput into every project she takes part in. She has been working as an artistic and FX makeup artist since the year 2000 for differnet events and clients including La Ronde, La Fête des neiges de Montréal and le Quartier Dix30. Her website, www.artediem.ca, is due to launch towards the end of summer 2010. After Bunburry and Suddenly Last Summer, JoA will be the third collaboration of the artist with PVSP.
Pamela Pachal (musique et paroles, et interprète de la musique originale et de la chanson thème). Formée en Music Technology à la Northeastern University (Boston), Pamela a acquis les compétences nécessaires pour écrire/enregistrer/produire et jouer sa propre musique, de même que de la musique pour le cinéma et le théâtre. Même si sa propre musique est sa première passion, son talent à écrire pour d'autres projets a capté l'attention et le respect de la critique de partout. Pamela Pachel (music & lyrics, and performer of original music and theme song). Trained in Music Technology at Northeastern University (Boston), Pamela acquired the skills to write/record/produce/engineer and performs her own music as well as music for film and theatre. Although her own music is her main passion, her ability to write for other projects has been grabbing the attention and respect of critics everywhere. Davyn Ryall (directeur artistique, producteur -promoteur ), Fondateur et Directeur Artistique de Productions Village Scène (PVSP) 2000 ... Je célèbre, cette saison-ci, ma 16e année de travail dans l'industrie du spectacle, en tant qu'artiste, metteur en scène et producteur, et j'ai accumulé plus de 40 ans d'expérience en création et gestion d'événements spéciaux. J'ai décidé que, pour notre 10e saison, il serait parfait de présenter cette perle rare du théâtre, et une de mes pièces contemporaines préférées, et de finalement accueillir "La Résurrection de Jeanne d'Arc" à Montréal. Je suis très fier d'être de retour cette année, portant le chapeau de producteur -promoteur , avec cet événement théâtral. PVSP sélectionne des pièces que d'autres n'auraient pas le courage d'entreprendre et travaille avec passion et ferveur pour les présenter sur scène. Cette pièce présentée en français et en anglais est notre 22e production , 5e bilingue, 8e en français, et 2e spectacle solo féminin. Je suis aussi très content de pouvoir offrir cette opportunité aux artistes impliqués et à l' équipe de conception qui ont tous dépassé les attentes et mené la vision originale à de nouveaux sommets. Mais le plus excitant a été d'unir notre talentueuse et harmonieuse équipe féminine de production et d'exposer nos talents locaux sur scène. À Caitie & Liz, il n'y a pas assez de mots... I celebrate, this season, my 16th year working in this business called show as an artist, director and producer, and having accumulated over 40 years of experience in the creation and management of special events. I decided for our 10th season it would be the perfect occasion to present this rare pearl of theatre, and one of my favorite contemporary plays and to finally welcome "The Second Coming of Joan of Arc" to Montreal. I am very proud to be back this year wearing the hat as a producer-promoter with this theatrical event. PVSP selects plays that others would not have the courage to attempt and works with passion and fervor to bring them to the stage. This play presented in English & French is our 22nd production, 5th bilingual, 8th French, and 2nd one women show. I am also very glad to be able to offer this opportunity to the artists involved and the team of designers who have all exceeded what was requested of them and taken the original vision to new loftier-hights. The biggest thrill of all has been to link together our talented and harmonious production team of designing women and to feature our local talent on stage. Stephan Turgeon (promotional translation and additional verification) has performed in french and english, in Quebec and in New-Brunswick. He's been part of 2 shows by the Opéra de Montréal... in non-singing roles. When it's not as an actor, it's backstage that he gets involved. He even got an award for most notable contribution by a volunteer for Harvest, Montreal LGBT Int'l Theatre Festival, in 2006 and 2007. It's also in 2007 that he was nominated for best actor in a leading role for Scrooge in Un Conte de Noël/Christmas Carol by PVSP. In 2009, he played the role of Merriman in Bunbury/L'Importance d'être Constant by PVSP.
